From: M.A.P. To: Every oneSt J's is like a mansion that's been turned into a school. fun fact: it was once to a diamond merchant and his family. They built a huge strong-room in the tower above the main doorway, which still exists. Much later, prior to the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary being given the building and grounds, the school was used as a rehabilitation hospital for Canadian Servicemen injured during WWII.2007 was the centenary of a very large extension to the house from the tower, at the front of the school, to the end of the wing, opposite the swimming pool. This was celebrated in July 2007 with an Edwardian themed Arts Week and included an Edwardian picnic for the students and their families'. I do believe that the school could use some improvements, though. not from the Board Of Education, but from the students. every young person has ideas all of their own. take me, for example. for the first time in my life, I've found a school when I can actually be myself. but most importantly, I have friends. some annoying and useless, some not so bad, only try to change a tiny per cent of St. J's, though. You see, people always want to change things in the world. they say it's to make progress. but sometimes, things are perfect just the way they are. not everything has to change. because to a kid, you're not just taking their school, you're taking their childhood. remember, you were a kid once, too. to kids, all this stuff is just crummy. let me let you in on a little secret: every adult you've ever known was a kid at some time of his/her life. you think they don't remember kids' stuff? riding bikes down by the creek, catching pollywogs in a jar, camping out under the star/ well, you're wrong. sometimes, I can only imagine myself as a school principle sitting there in my office, looking out at those kid on the playground and think, "they don't know hood good they got it. in a few years, they're all going to be grownups like me and all those good times will just be memories for them, too". so, go ahead. put a whoopee cushion in a teacher's chair, cover their carpets with fake vomit, make fun of their fat saggy butts, but don't you ever say they don't care about kid's stuff like summer vacation, because those memories are the last part of childhood they've got left.
